Tried it twice. Done. Rice was hard, beans weren't good. Tasted left over and reheated. The sweet corn stuff was the best part.
Last week was the first time we went to this good restaurant. But It is absolutely not the last. We had a good time with the attentive service, with the first-rate food and wine and with the comfortable payment. We will no doubt come back again.
Fun place. Great drinks and food.
I like the food. But people shouldn't have to download a PDF to see a restaurants menu. Losing orders during this shelter in place because of it.
Why have I never been here before?I just found my new authentic Mexican restaurant in the Anoka area! Not only was the food amazing, but the wait staff, and even the owner, went out of their way to ensure me and my friends were having an enjoyable dining experience!Keep up the great work, and get used to seeing our faces, because you'll be seeing us a lot! 🌮
Great food and service.
Tried calling the restaurant on a Friday night, it just went to an out of service number. Ended up placing an order and they use a 3rd party site. "signed in" with my google account, and placed an order. Went to go get the food and A. it was just sitting out on the bar, not staying warm B. They couldn't find the order. After looking for 10 minutes, we all realized it was under a google name ( which isn't my name, just a user name ). C. They don't give chips for to go orders, just for people who sit down in the restaurant :/. Got the food and it was just super sad looking. Everything was somewhat warm and portions were weird. We got 2 orders of quesadillas and one enchilada. The only reason why I gave it 3 stars is because we'd be willing to try it again, not on a busy night and knowing what we know now. Just not really impressed
The food was good but very average. My fiance got the Mexican macaroni it was delicious! I got the enchilada, it was kind of dry and didnt have a lot of flavor going on. I also ordered a mango margarita, it was in a normal glass and again tasted very average, not much flavor or alcohol. The chips and salsa were alright, we had to pay for them because of COVID-19 they said? The salsa seemed as if it was just out of a cheap jar, it wasn't bad but not a lot of flavor. Our waitress was nice, could be a little more attentive. So overall no complaints really. It was a good time but not in my list of favorites.
Best tortilla chips I've ever had. Everything else I've had on the menu is awesome as well. Queso is also excellent, get it with the chorizo.
Per the usual the food is great. My wife loves the seafood enchiladas and the burritos are tasty. Thanks again guys! Sorry we couldn't dine in, hopefully soon!
1st timer. I got Tex Mex chicken quesadilla. Tasty. I ordered all the sauces, just to try em. All are good but,my favorite one was avocado ranch and southwest!
Ok so I visited Casa Rio on a Thursday for lunch. WOW, I was impressed with their Thursday's taco bar/buffet. Everything that I tried was enjoyable. I have nothing but good things to say about this place.!. I will return for this pleasant treat! Highly, highly suggested.!.
Taco Tuesday is a great value. Servings are above normal. House margaritas are good. Service a little slow due to short staff
Casa Rio is a perfect Mexican eatery in the little down of Anoka. You seat yourself and enjoy wonderful margaritas with warm chips, made from scratch, and case sauce. The bright colors and friendly atmosphere makes you want to stay and visit a little while longer. The food and prices and pretty good too!
The seafood enchiladas are so good. Also the chips are always fresh.
My hubby and I passed by this restaurant several times ....due to our hectic work schedule...we were unable to try out this spot...fortunately...he got off of work early yesterday.....HIP HIP HOORAY....The food is awesome....the atmosphere is great....we met the owner....her name was either kitty or kelly....she made us feel very welcome....my fav....the seafood enchiladas....yum yum.yum.....looking forward to getting off of work today and going home to eat my doggie bag....!!!!....@I highly recommend.....Renee
We arrived at this place for a meeting. we heard about this restaurant from many people. Well, it was a winning. The crew welcomed us with a smile and we had an excellent feeling. The food was just great. We loved this restaurant very much and we shall definitely come back again. Keep it up.
great food and drinks
I haven't yet been to the restaurant so I can't comment on the restaurant itself other than the food which I've had as take out on 2 occasions. Both times I've had the angry chimichanga. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that has a menu like Casa Rio. The angry chimichanga is loaded with jalapenos and covered in a habanero salsa and its really tasty. I love spicy foods and this chimichanga is great like really great. I really need to visit the restaurant itself but I'm afraid when i do i will end up ordering the same thing again even though there menu looks amazing.
Best tortilla chips and salsa, wait staff is friendly and professional -- you need something? Just ask! Good food 👍
Really good food! Love the corn cakes & spicy queso! We’ve ate in the restaurant and have gotten door dash both good options! Their Togo packaging was really nice the food was still warm after the driver delivered it
Great atmosphere and decor. Friendly staff. Delicious Tex-Mex food. Be sure to try the sweet corn bread!!!They give you a small sample with your meal. It is the best!!!Good portions and very reasonable prices. A most stop if you are in Anoka
My fiancé and I come here every Tuesday night! We love the fun and upbeat atmosphere and the servers are normally great! We love to see the owner walking around and checking in on all her customers! Tonight was a different experience. We were continuously ignored by our server, Natasha after given the chips and salsa we ordered. We ate all of our chips and I even put the empty chip basket near the edge of the table. She kept making eye contact and walking by. They were not very busy. We ended up moving up to the bar and she said something to the bartender that made us feel more uncomfortable. She said something about already getting us chips and not to get us any.. we literally moved the bar to get better service. She finally came over to us at the bar and askedIf we were ready. The entire experience was really odd, and made us feel awkward! We will try again next week!
I have been here three times now as of this review. The food is pretty good here. Nothing that I would say is amazing but good enough to get me to come back. I’ve tried the taquitos and the chicken and chorizo chimi. The chicken is the chimi was a bit dry but with it smothered in queso I can scoop that to help with the dryness. Two things that were odd to me was the restriction on chips and salsa and the kids Mac n cheese tasted and looked like boxed Mac n cheese. Either way I’ve come back three times and I’ll continue to come back for good Tex Mex food.
Borracho beans, YUM. So much delicious food & you have to try the famous chili. Great service, historic site, must go.
Tried this place for the first time. The food and the service were excellent
Great chip and salsa! My companion's tacos had a very generous amount of filling. One of the biggest I've seen locally! However, the beef was a little bland. My Shrimp Fundido had delicious shrimp and was otherwise pretty tasty. Just needed a little more color to make it look more appetizing. Maybe place the shrimp and peppers on top of the sauce. Thought the price for tap Dos Equis was a little ridiculous. Paid far less elsewhere.
Food was great. Ambiance not so good but there is a remodel in progress. Suggest you get takeout until expansion is done. Again, I was very impressed with the food.
$2 taco night. Not bad. Service is pretty good too.
Couldn't give 5 stars quite yet so I'll update it once I get the opportunity to try their regular food, I only got drinks and some apps/desert when I came in. But the waiting staff was really friendly, and they were attentative to our table. Great place, very welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
For a Tex Mex place in Minnesota this place was great. Salsa was good and I had the Street Tacos. Interesting though they are build your own which was cool but the bowl the beef, onions, and cilantro was small and full to the brim. That made it difficult to get a good mix. Would definitely go back.
Great Tex Mex Food in a sports bar atmosphere. All you can eat buffet on Thursdays all day.
The chips are very soft and arent hard and the quesos amazing.
It was good as always. Fair prices decent service. Worth the trip to Anoka.
Our last trip. I think we have easily spent more than $2500 over the past few years at Casa Rio. It was a wonderful, homey local place that was a pleasure to go to. Then it was sold and food took a decided nose dive. Today we took a seat... the bench was ripped and ugly, the wait staff informed us that they now charge for chips and salsa..... so much more not worth mentioning. Casa Rio... we went to you because you were local. You decided to reward us with so much less than you were. We will walk on by.
Buffet Thursday features a fantastic taco bar that is not to be missed. The queso is worth the trip alone. I prefer the beef to the shredded chicken, but both are well seasoned and delicious. Staff is friendly and responsive.
My favorite place to eat in Anoka. I've been going here for years and have never been disappointed. Their queso dip is to die for.
Best Mexican in the twin cities.
Tex Mex joint with something for everybody.
Great food. Haven't had anything bad. Ally and Melissa are amazing!! To go orders are easy and equally delicious. (Southwest chicken burrito to go in pic)
Good owners now!! 💯💯
I hadn't been here for awhile and forgot how good the food was. Good portions, good service and great price. Odd to me they charge for chips and salsa after the first serving but didn't need more. For sure a hidden gem of Anoka.
Decent food. Nothing to really write home about. Staff was very friendly. Layout is kind of odd and the tables are on the small side for a family of 4. Nothing overly great and nothing that bad. Would likey return.
Food was terrific! I didn't intend to eat it all but couldn't stop. It's the only place hubby will go out to eat.
First time at Casa Rio. Food, service and the hostess were great. Hostess came over to table several times and didn't just ask they typical "how is everything" she asked specifically about the service and the food. I thought that was impressive. Has the traditional chimichanga and a margarita. chimi was very good, margarita could have used some more tequila (my wife said the same about hers).
Old have liked it The food is good. However at times it can be inconsistent. My last visit the food was lukewarm. I would have liked it more if it was hot. Great chips and salsa! friendly staff, nice atmosphere.
One of my favorite places to go to for Anoka's pub crawls! The food is excellent.
Love this place. Great food and drinks for a great price. Try the queso!!
Good food, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Love the Thurs buffet.
